My name is Russell and I live in San Antonio, Texas. I am fifteen years old and I am a freshman in high school. While most kids are playing video games, I am cooking. Food has always been a passion on mine. By the age of twelve, I had taken over the responsibility of dinner for my family and from there I have never stopped cooking. I love to experiment in the kitchen whether it be simple flavors or gastronomic creations.
As I have grown older I have developed a certain respect for food and nutrition. For me this is learning the balance between the sustenance which food provides for our bodies and the joy which certain, less healthy, foods bring me. I am active and have a passion for running and cross country. Therefore, I need to fuel my body with nutritious food on a daily basis, but I am not going give up certain foods I love. Therefore I plan to mix healthy and indulgent recipes on this blog. Enjoy!
Love this!
Thank you, I appreciate your support of the blog. Keep checking back or subscribe to stay posted!
Way to go Russell..great blog. Keep cooking!
Thanks for the encouragement!
It’s nice to see someone as young as you passionate about food! Think I’ll follow your journey…
Thank you, I hope you will!
Hey Russell, as a kid, my favorite after school tv was “Great Chef, Great Cities” on PBS. I benefited greatly from the “stand and stir” cooking programs of my day. The information that went forth has stayed with me and been used time and time again. Cheers, man!
I agree, the cooking television that I have watched has really taught me knowledge that I would not have gotten easily elsewhere.
You are an unusual young man. I am looking forward to be part of your food journey.
Thank you. I hope you will continue to enjoy my posts!

Thank you and thank you for the nomination. I love your blog!
Could you come live at my house? 😉 There is a serious lack of motivation to cook on a regular basis. I’ll bet your family LOVES that you do all the cooking and put such care into it.
Thank you! My family usually loves the food (aside from my attempt at meatless Monday) but I can’t say my mom loves her kitchen’s constant state of messiness 🙂
I love your enthusiasm to cook as well as your blog! Keep blogging! 🙂
Thanks fro stopping by!

Congrats Russell– seems like you’re one pretty cool kid. Good luck with the start of high school and I look forward to what you cook in the future!
Thanks, it is very exciting. Glad you stopped by!
Super blog Russell….I look forward to reading more.
Wow, thanks!
Hi Russell – great that you know what you love at an early age! Keep learning, cooking and sharing..
Thanks for stopping by, just subscribed to your blog.
Extremely impressive. You make me feel terrible about my own cooking (see microwaved egg sandwich) but also inspired to get to work making some real dishes. Keep it up homie!
Well thank you, Mo. I am sure your cooking isn’t terrible!
Hi Russell! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the flattering comment. I actually started learning to cook seriously around your age, but you’re miles ahead of where I was. Are you considering culinary school at all?
Hello! Your welcome, of course. I don’t really imagine myself at culinary school. I would rather keep cooking as a hobby. However who knows, maybe someday…
Hey Russell, I think you have a great blog here – I am really impressed with your cooking skills and knowledge. The love for cooking for me started when I was about 27…but you are so brilliant at such an early age! It really makes me happy to see a teenager being passionate about something other than Television and aimless browsing on the internet. Your recipes are versatile and creative…following your blog!
That is incredibly nice of you. Thank you for stopping by my blog, I really appreciate it.
How fabulous that your food adventures have begun at such a young age (relatively to this writer, is all I mean). Thanks for your visit to The Nutrition Doctor is In the Kitchen ~ I hope I can be of culinary inspiration to you as well as a source for sound science. We both share a love of running, I see, as well… Cheers, PKN
You are so cool man (: I’m 15 and love to cook but can’t do anything like you!:/ Ignore the haters !:)
Thanks! I am glad to meet another blogger my age.
Thank you for visiting and liking my blog. I can relate to your young beginnings in food. Bless you for sharing your gift….keep at it.
Thanks! I am glad that you can relate.
You’re absolutely awesome. Keep horning your gifts.
Thank you!
I love your blog, there are so many recipes I would love to try. Thanks for popping by The Puffin Diaries, I’m going to show my son your site as I think he’ll love it too. I reckon the mussels recipe might go down well as he loves mussels. Keep cooking and blogging, you write beautifully as well. x
Thank you, that is so flattering! I hope your son enjoys the sight as well. Thanks again for stopping by!
Hi Russell: Thanks for taking an interest in my blog and I love your About Me page. I am so glad you enjoy cooking. Preparing food with love and a joyful heart is one of the best occupations in life. Keep on cooking!
This is awesome! I will be following this blog. I’m impressed that you are following such a great path at such a young age. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the sweet remarks. Glad you stopped by!
A very wonderful skill is to know how to cook! I enjoy it too but do it on a smaller scale these days. I love cooking with seasonal and local foods, I remember my first cooking experience as a very little girl on the farm. While my parents were working out in the barn I took everything….and I mean everything….. out of the fridge and put it on the table….so supper would be ready for my parents when they came in from chores. I soon got the job of scrubbing potatoes etc and this led to bigger and better things!
I expect to be seeing your cooking in cookbooks, television or restaurants soon! Awesome young man!
Way to go Russell! It’s so fun to see how we share a similar philosophy of food and cooking. My mom ignited my passion for great food as part of a healthy and happy life. There was never a doubt in my mind that I would study nutrition. Now, it’s with great joy and enthusiasm that I share my passion with others. I hope you continue to grow and share your health and happiness. With warm aloha, Jill
Thank you! That is really great that you were always so interested in nutrition and even better that you share your knowledge with others. I am also jealous that you live in Hawaii, my favorite place ever!
